Stirling thrash Birmingham in BUCS Premier League

Stirling put four goals past Birmingham during an impressive performance in the British Universities and Colleges Sport Premier North.

Stirling travelled to Birmingham for their sixth game of the campaign – and scored after just seven minutes when striker Kieran Hall fired home an impressive left-footed volley.

The home side equalised with a header on 31 minutes – sending the two teams in level at half-time.

The University started the second 45 on the front foot – but had to wait until the 70th minute to restore their advantage. Captain Angus Mailer flicked the ball into the net after Matthew Burrows headed a Calum Heath corner back into the box.

Jason Jarvis added a third for Stirling in the 90th minute before Mailer scored his second of the match in injury time – finishing well from the edge of the box.

Stirling sit third in BUCS Premier North – with four wins from six – and have three games in hand over second-placed Loughborough and two over league leaders Nottingham Trent.

The students return to competitive action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Berwick Rangers in the Lowland League at Forthbank.
