The University of Stirling are still searching for a win to end their disappointing run of defeats, with Tuesday night’s game being the third consecutive league game without a goal.

It took only three minutes for the home side to open the scoring, as a shot from the edge of the box from Tranent’s Robbie McIntyre hit the back of the net.

The uni tried their best to stay in the game, with a number of missed chances in the next 20 minutes.

Tranent’s keeper was tested and a sliced clearance landed at the feet of the visitors, but the ball was sent over the bar.

Stirling’s Bobby Fasano Barton was in goal for the uni side on the evening and made a number of brilliant saves to keep the students in the game before half time.

Tranent’s second goal came 11 minutes into the second half, with Daniel Handling received the ball from a corner and poked the ball into the goal at the back post.

Jack Hodge and Alex Jeanes made way for fresh feet just before the hour mark, as Isa Aslanoglu and Jay Burns took their place on the park.

Joseph Viola got Tranent’s third though in the 61st minute after getting through Stirling’s defence.

The uni had some chances but couldn’t make anything of them, as Tranent had the chance to make it four, but the shot hit the post before the full-time whistle blew.

Speaking on the defeat, University of Stirling head coach, Chris Geddes, said: “It was a much-improved performance.

“We got punished from a top side and didn’t take our opportunities when they came around.

“There was a lot of good signs to keep working on and we head into the next game with these in mind.”
